Movement for Sport
Athletes ask their bodies to control movement through load, speed, fatigue, and repetition. FMS and SFMA provide a standardized way to look at movement outside of individual strength or performance tests.
During the assessment, you perform a set series of movements such as squatting, stepping, lunging, mobility, and stability tasks. Your clinician observes and scores how you complete each movement.
The standardized FMS scoring system has shown good reproducibility between and within raters, making it a useful way to document movement patterns and identify areas that may deserve more attention in training.

Functional Movement Screen
The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) uses seven fundamental movement patterns to look at mobility, stability, movement quality, and asymmetries in people who are not currently experiencing pain.
It can help athletes and coaches see where movement may deserve more attention within training.
Selective Functional Movement Assessment
The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is used when pain is present. It looks more closely at painful and restricted movement to help your clinician determine where further assessment is needed.
