ACTIVITY & SPORT

For rebuilding exercise, training, work, and sport as recovery progresses.

Active Recovery

Concussion recovery no longer means waiting until every symptom disappears. After a short period of relative rest, gradual physical and cognitive activity can begin as symptoms allow.

Headache, neck pain and stiffness, dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, motion sensitivity, visual symptoms, and exercise intolerance can all affect recovery. Rehabilitation addresses the symptoms that are limiting you and guides a gradual return to school, work, training, and sport.

What to Expect

Your visit looks at your symptoms, neck movement, balance, eye and head movement, and how you respond to physical activity. Treatment may include aerobic exercise, neck treatment and exercise, vestibular rehabilitation, balance work, and a gradual return to activity. Athletes need medical clearance from a physician or nurse practitioner before returning to full practice or competition where there is a risk of contact or another head injury under Ontario’s Rowan’s Law.

Back to Activity

Guidance for a gradual return to work, training, and sport.
